thats why they are called 'pipe' thread, because they are tapered and expand the further you turn them into the pipe, thus causing a sort of crush type of seal. I would think you could just get some pipe thread barb fittings for each hard pipe, and use a large vacuum hose and run it from side to side, dont really need to use SS , and you wont see it at all if you put the fittings on the bottom of the hardpipes. You could run the hose along the front of the timing cover where that wire harness already is, and it would be out of the way of the fan...... just my thoughts...
